Photo Books
Wow, I've been busy at Arts Cow!
I ordered some photo books and so far this is what I have learned.
5 free books________________00.00
remove Arts Cow logo $2 per book_10.00
shipping and handling 5 books____59.95
Total for books__________________69.95
I love being able to remove the AC logo from my books and put my own "label"
on the last page, I remember when I used to sew gifts I had little labels made with my name :)
Any way I digress...
Sooo the 10 bucks for logo removal is ok with me but $60.00 for shipping and handling? All the books were going to the same address so I expected a break on the S&H. I am going to have to look and see what the other book makers policies are in regards to this and I will let you know. I am going to try to check out all the photo book sites that do "square" books and look at quailty vs price.
I will be posting more on this soon as well as photos of the acutal books as soon as they arrive!
Watch my blog for updates and a freebie soon!

Welcome Back Freebie!
So much going on in my life this summer! BUT...I'm not going to bore you with my personal life dramas, at lest not right this moment :) I will stick with just the scrapping news. The Scrapping Garden closing, KISS Scraps folded. TSG re opened ((sigh)) lots if highs and lows. The good news is that in between all that I started scrapping again, just for me! Now I know that all designers don't stop scrapping for themselves just because they start designing but for me something changed. Time restraints, all my creativity going into the kits, the demands of the site, all the work that goes on behind the scenes?? Of course, I usually made a layout with a kit I was ready to put in the store but it was usually just for "AD" purposes. What I mean is, that I was scrapping with out a clear direction. I had tons of layouts but nothing flowed towards the finish line. I was never getting the satisfaction of being finished with a project. Enter the second event of the summer. I had been looking for a way to share photos from recent trips with my friends. Since "PhotoSite" had shut its doors I had just been lagging, but I had photos I really wanted to share and went looking and found "Shutterfly" Wow! I have to tell you though it was not love at first sight, apparently I joined in 2006 LOL!! Anyway, after taking the time to really try to figure out how to use the sight "I love it" To make a long story short I actually finished a book and had it printed!!!!! I can not tell you how good it felt! Done, complete, FINISHED Whooohhoooo! And I might add
beautiful quality and the people at shutterfly could not have been any more helpful. (and I called them more than once, ohhh yeahhh I did!)
I spent more time searching the internet and found "Arts Cow" I cant wait to see one of their books too! You can get your first book for $6.99 with free shipping!
I can also sell my kits there for use in their books.
Now for the third event of the summer...When TSG closed I took a restoration job, a BIG one. It was a wedding album that had fire and water damage. Well just as I was getting the last photos restored the client saw my Shutterfly book and had to have a book created with her photos! Ohhh more wor$ for me Yeah! Well back to the "short" of it, I now have 2 more clients lined up for books!
Now you might be thinking, well good for you, but what does that have to do with me? I am here looking for FREEBIES!(keep reading til the end) I am rededicating my self to my blog, to promote the creation of Real Life books. Books my grand kids will hold, books for my coffee table, books about my heritage that I can give copies of to my family, books I can give my friends to celebrate all the fun we have had. This is not to say that I don't love my paper still! I will always want to get my fingers stickey with glue :) and I am going to keep loving the paper scrapbooks I already made. That said, with much deliberation I can't get past the PRO's of professionally printed hard bound books.
They are smaller (thinner), much easier to display I have mine on the side table in the living room it looks great and I love seeing peoples reaction to it when I tell them I made it :)
They are less expensive than traditional paper scrapping.
They are less espensive than printing at home.
You can print as many as you need, no extra work needed
Best gift in the world for those hard to shop for, and it makes you look like a genius!
Loss prevention...Fire or Flood, you just have to order new books with your insurance money!
Actually, there are more reasons Im sure but thats a start...
Ohhhh back to freebies ROTFLMBO....
In addition to helpful hints about books, Shutterfly, Arts Cow and scrapping etc I will be having freebies!

Mothers Day Freebie for You!

Wow, things have changed in the last few months. I am no longer designing for a store and although I will miss that alot I am looking forward to having some time to do other things...Like scrap for myself, LOL
I plan on getting around to some "house keeping" chores like organizing my computer files and getting rid of stuff I know I will never use and backing up more of my files (I am so guilty of not keeping current on that...) and working on this blog :)
I also have to admit that at my age, if I don't start scanning the boxes and boxes of photographs under the bed, I might not live long enough to get them done!!! Hopefully I can keep to my goal to work somewhat chronologically... Scanning is my least favorite thing to do.
I suffer from "Acute Multiple Media Overload" photos, slides, negatives from all kinds of cameras...the big ones from my parents Brownie...remember the ones that came on a tiny round disc??? Kodak Advantax :) the negatives are in the little cartridges? Not to mention movies of all sorts from the 1950' til now???? "((Heavy Sigh))" Where to start LOL! Breaking things into "do-able" piles and just digging in! I guess I will see how it goes! Meanwhile I have a little Mothers Day Gift for you...its created with my "Eternal Spring" kit...
I did this layout of My Mom,

Here is the link to the download...
I scanned and fixed another photo of my Mom...here she is on the steps of a Baltimore Row house.
